As an introduction to working with Yantras, I thought it would be fun for you to see a small selection of Yantras and pick the one you are drawn to. Take this image (jpg), print it out perhaps and daily sit with it, see how it affects you.
You may have heard of a Mantra Sadhana, well this is a Yantra Sadhana and by the ‘doing’ the ‘getting to know’ the ‘hanging out with’ will you start to get an experience of how the Yantras work.
If you can recite the mantra for each Yantra while gazing at its central dot, the bindu, each day, for 40 days, you will start to feel the Yantra come to life and a palpable shift occur within you.
i) Durga (the seed mantra for Durga is “doom”
ii) Tara (the seed mantra for Tara is “streem”)
iii) Tripura Sundari (the seed mantra for Tripura Sundari is “kleem”
If I elaborate upon their meanings here you may be distracted from your initial visual choice. Allow this to be a visual visceral experience. At the end of the 40 days you can do some personal research about your chosen Goddess and read more about her.
