We all need a sacred space to call our own, a place of serenity, a return to wholeness, a respite from worldly cares, a pure connection with the divine and the spiritual most cherished self. Each sacred space is a unique as the print of the finger and yet has a common thread of peace + quiet, divinity.
For me the sacred space is simple and uncluttered and ever changing as the seasons with touches of nature:
a delicate bloom
one smooth stone from my morning walk
a sweet scented candle
a piece of jade
a beautiful photo
a guidance card
a lucky penny
Just as in life each day brings something different to my space. Some days I sit quietly + contemplative. I meditate or breathe or pray softly. I listen to beautiful music or the quiet whisper of silence. I read an inspirational message. I breathe. I write.
I may ask for guidance or clarity…or give thanks + rest. connecting with divine energy. feeling loved and being love. I breathe. I listen + receive. Feelings of love and loss may come and go. tears or fear. I breathe. I let go. cry. smile. listen. Let stillness come.
Just as in my home I find sacred spaces in nature…claiming my own little piece of heaven…gazing upon a beautiful bloom, listening to the trickle and rush of a stream. I breathe in sharing the air with the trees, the pale blue sky and I feel loved. connected to that invisible yet palpable energy of the divine.
As I move through my days I bring my sacred space with me. As I am brushing my little girl’s hair, driving to class, doing the laundry. I breathe. I remember. I connect. I forget. I breathe. I come back. I feel the divine.
In my yoga classes we create our sacred space together sharing our breath and stillness by:
taking a grounded seat
opening the heart
crown of the head high
palms resting lightly down or open to the sky
closing our eyes
sharing a breath
awakening awareness in each breath
feeling the bright inhale
+ feeling the subtle warmth of the exhale
feeling the connection with higher self deepen with each sweet breath
As we connect to ourselves and our divine nature we open that connection with others and all of life. The more we move into our sacred space, the more we realize that sacred space is truly within us…always waiting patiently with the light on…we can experience it anytime + anywhere…it is just as close as a nod and our next breath.
Love and beauty and peace to you all as you journey into your sacred space.
