The other day, I consciously carved out time to be alone outside. My mind was spinning with thoughts that needed discernment in quiet ground. I chose to walk through the woods in frigid cold with the intention of getting fired up. It is in nature where my magic happens, where my mind settles enough to hear the most powerful messages and my creativity is ignited.
Nature provides a sense of awe that has the capacity to connect us to what matters most. It can cultivate consciousness of our miraculous creation and we can see the relationship we have with other living beings. As I watch the animals scurry about, I think about the other people that have walked this same trail years ago. While walking through the forest, I often wonder what secrets the trees hold. What thoughts have been whispered in this space? I think about all the dreams that have come alive in the woods. How many other visions were inspired while standing in the open air, surrounded by the marvels of our existence?
It is in this moment, as I am, that I connect to the calm place inside of me. My inner peace that is unchanging within my ever-changing presence. I change, grow, and evolve; as the earth, in its constant motion, changes with me. This calm place inside of me, unaffected by external circumstances, is where I desire my thoughts to flow from, my words to originate, and my being to live. Nature illuminates my path to this place, as does my breath in its most sacred way. Once I connect to this, I connect to life in its fullest capacity, knowing that my light shines, and believing that our collective light shines even brighter.
