Sally Kempton

Sally Kempton is a widely respected teacher of applied spiritual wisdom, known for her capacity to kindle meditative states in others, and to help students work with meditative experience as a framework for practical life-change. She has spent over four decades delving deeply into meditation and self-inquiry, practicing and teaching the non-dual tantric models for working with emotional states. Sally teaches teleclasses, retreats, and workshops, appears at conferences, and is on the faculty at Esalen, Kripalu and the Shift Network. She is the author of the best-selling book, Awakening Shakti: The Transformative Power of the Goddesses of Yoga, and of Meditation for the Love of It,” which Spirituality and Health magazine called “the meditation book your heart wants you to read”. Her audio program, Doorways to the Infinite: The Art and Practice of Tantric Meditation, was recently released by Sounds True. A former swami in a Vedic tradition, Sally studied intensely with an enlightened guru for nearly 30 years, and was trained she was trained in the philosophies of yoga and especially in non-dual Kashmir Shaivism. She taught for more than twenty years in her guru’s organization before beginning to teach publically in 2002. Sally was the Wisdom columnist for Yoga Journal from 2004 until 2013, and continues to serve as a contributing editor there. She is versed in the theory and practice of yoga and tantra, which she integrates with contemporary psychology and integral thought.
