Early in the morning, before the Sun wakes up
and as consciousness arrives
I unroll my mat and start my ritual.
My mat is sacred, an extension of my body,
the support to my temple;
every challenge has been won here.
It starts quietly, slowly,
little by little awakening every thing.
Then I give thanks to the Sun
for the promise of one more day.
Many Warriors to remind me I am strong,
and the balances that teach me to be brave.
Upside down I lose my fear,
and sitting down I learn to breathe.
I have practiced how to fall
and every time I try once more.
Every movement like a dance
that stops to let air in,
to feel it in my veins
and moving from within
in symphony with all that is.
