In Buddhism, we dedicate the merit and make auspicious aspirations to be kind and generous to others, at the end of formal practice…eventually this dedication and offering becomes innate as we go through our daily routines so we are making everything an offering.
When I go to the grocery store I offer it up…may all beings have all the delicious healthy food they desire; in beautiful gardens, may all beings take delight in the beauty of flowers and nature. I even make offering when I’m experiencing a challenging situation/emotion and I find that am able to be in the moment with it and “flip it” so to speak to turn it on its head so that my suffering/or theirs is minimized…I offer it up…may all beings gather loving awareness of themselves and others, and find equinanimous forgiveness and compassion.
Even something so mundane as having clean toilet paper in the bathroom, can be made into an offering…may everyone have their favorite tp to gently care for their body and appease their sense of well being!!
Creating sacred space is to remember that there really is enough for everyone, and to continuously offer the energy of our good fortune back into the stream so that others may share and take delight! May we forever remember to do so! May there be great benefit to all!
